Privacy notice
Devon injury collisions · roads.happymonkey.ai · HappyMonkeyAI
Short version: this site shows open government road collision statistics. Advertising cookies are not used. Google Analytics (GA4) runs only if you choose Accept analytics on the banner. You can change that choice below.
Who we are
This explorer is operated by HappyMonkeyAI as a public information tool for Devon County Council area injury collisions (excluding Plymouth and Torbay unitary areas by default).
What data we show
- Police-reported personal injury collisions from the UK Department for Transport STATS19 open data (Open Government Licence).
- Approximate place labels derived from reverse geocoding (postcodes.io) of collision coordinates.
- Map tiles from OpenStreetMap contributors.
Collision records are historical public statistics. They are not live traffic, not ANPR, and not a list of identifiable individuals.
Personal data & cookies (UK GDPR / PECR)
- Server access logs (web host / reverse proxy) may include IP address, user agent, URL and time, for security and reliability.
- No advertising cookies and no sale of visitor data.
- Leaflet / OpenStreetMap tiles are loaded from third-party tile servers when you view the map (standard request metadata to deliver images).
- Optional Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID
G-ZCP16BSK8K): only after you click Accept analytics. GA may set cookies / use local storage and process IP and device/browser data under Google’s terms. We request analytics without ads personalization storage. IP anonymization is enabled in config. Google is a US-based processor; see Google Privacy Policy. - Preference storage: your banner choice is stored in
localStorageon this device so we remember Accept vs Essential only.
Legal bases
- Publishing open government data: public task / legitimate interests in making road safety statistics easier to explore.
- Server logs: legitimate interests (security and service integrity).
- Google Analytics: consent (PECR / UK GDPR) — not loaded until you opt in.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and complaint to the ICO (ico.org.uk). For GA data held by Google, you may also use Google’s tools and this site’s Essential only control to stop further analytics tags from this browser.
